 This
institution NAB-Pheroze & Noshir Merwanji Rehabilition Center for the Blind
was founded by late Smt. Coomie P. Merwanji in the year 1967. The
institution has grown many fold & made all round progress during the last
more than three decades. More than 1200 blind children have received
vocational rehabilitation training in various trades and have established
themselves either as independent entrepreneurs or taken jobs in related
industries.
The institute at present is having one of the best
infrastructural facilities like beautiful campus, play ground on the hills
of Mount Abu proper, very well designed class rooms, teaching halls, prayer
halls, office block, library, Staff room, guest rooms, staff quarters,
spacious and airy hostel block for minimum of 50 inmates, dining hall,
Kitchen, store room.
This institution is providing full boarding & lodging
facilities, training, casual medical treatments, cloths and also cash Rs,
40/- per month per trainee, totally free of charge to 25 totally and
partially blind male trainees. These trainees are a per the government
policy, expected to be trained in various areas of self independence &
free mobility to manage their basic health care & physical fitness and
also be able to do their basic daily routines. Besides this, they are
expected to be given training in various trades e.g. orientation & Mobility,
Braille & Communication Skills, Home Economics and Daily Living Activities,
Pre- Vocational & Vocational Crafts (Handicrafts), Light Engineering,
Agricultural activities, Physical Training, One year Certificate
Course in Motor Rewinding, Chalk & Candle Making Course etc. So as to enable
them to settled own and earn their livelihood independently without
depending on others. |
