Arun Sharma was born on August 22, 1950, at Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India. He had his education in Rajasthan, Mumbai and Calcutta. He is a doctor by profession and runs a private clinic at Mount Abu, Rajasthan. There he also runs a 'Free Clinic' for the poor and the tribal and in past fifteen years has attended to nearly over hundred thousands patients free and freely disbursed medicine worth of ten million Rupees and arranged for free operations worth several hundred thousands and also started the Mount Abu chapter of PFA (People For Animals). In 2002 he conceived, designed and edited the Website on Mount Abu, www.mountsabu.com with the technical support of Mr. Neeraj Gupta from Udaipur and launched it from Ahmedabad. The Home Secretary of Gujarat state, Mr. Ashok Narayan, a scholar par excellence, inaugurated the Website. In the same year he started the Mount Abu chapter of SPICMACAY.
          He has written extensively in Hindi, English and Bengali and has published in several magazines like 'Journal Of Poetry Society (India)', 'Vaataayan', 'Samajh', 'City Courier', 'Indian Literature (from Sahitya Akademy)', www.poetry.com (USA), Yardbird Reader (USA) of www.yardbird.com etc. His name is included in 'Who's Who of Indian Writers', published by Sahitya Akademy, New Delhi, India, and also in the directory of writers in Rajasthan, India. His collection of poems, 'In Search of a Song', published in 1986, was highly acclaimed. His other collections of poems are: 'Chup Kyon Ho Koi Baat Karo' (Hindi) 1991, 'Terracotta Sutras' (English) 1994, 'Saanp To Saanp Hi Hota Hai' (Hindi) 1996, 'Nirvana And The Cybergod- The Singapore Poems' (English) 1996, written during his Singapore visit, 'Basant Behose Ho Jata Hai' (Hindi) 1997, 'Success Is A Journey' (English) 1999, written during his visit to the USA and much admired by president Bill Clinton, and 'Indra Dhanushi Ganlion Men Kanbatian Foolon Ki' (Hindi) 2001, 'Moods Of The Love Lake' (English) 2002, "Thaga So Thakur" Hindi anthology of short stories (aided by Rajasthan Sahitya Akademy and published by Rajasthani Granthagar- Sojti Gate, Jodhpur) 2002.
          He is a romantic lyricist and a natural composer. In 1996, he wrote and composed a song and a gazal for a tele-film 'Jeene Ke Liye'. In 1998, he recorded his first album of Hindi pop 'Tu Hi Hai', an ensemble of seven Hindi love songs with a difference, written, composed and sung by him and arranged by Samir-Mana and brought out by Mr. Jayesh P. Choksi of Plus Music, Mumbai, India. In 2000 September, the Millennium International Hindi Conference honored him for serving the cause of Hindi language. In 2001 International Society Of Poets (USA) awarded him the 'Editor's Choice Award' for his poem 'Ritualistic Rape'.
